The Upper Tampere Region (Ylä-Pirkanmaa in Finnish) is a networked subregion of 4 municipalities located close to the city of Tampere and the Tampere-Pirkkala Airport. The towns, villages and museums in the region bring the history of the Finnish forest industry to life.
Go exploring, fishing, canoeing or enjoy the idyllic lake scenery. The landscape in Virrat is full of beautiful and rugged nature. The hiking routes in Helvetinjärvi National Park in Ruovesi and Juupajoki are ideal for getting in touch with nature. Internationally known cultural events such as the Mänttä Art Festival, the Mänttä Music Festival and the Ruovesi Chamber Music Festival are also arranged in the region.
The region is easy to reach. It only takes one hour from the city of Tampere and less than three hours from Helsinki, Finland’s capital.
